First and foremost, websites that are not appearing on the first page of Google, Yahoo, or Bing or are lacking a social media presence (blog or Facebook Fan Page) will struggle building traffic.

Websites without structured landing pages (the first page visitors view) will have difficulty converting clicks into customers. Each page should have a theme and provide answers to the top "buying questions". For example, a contractor only has one page with a list of services rather than complimenting the service page with an individual page for each service to address visitor's specific needs.

Websites will not perform well if they do not provide easy solutions to get started or if the phone number and contact information is difficult to find. Help direct viewers by making contact information easy to see and guide them towards what you want them to.

Visitors will bounce out of a website very quickly if it takes too long to load and if they don't see what they are looking for right away. The design should be engaging, easy to navigate and contain the right information in a simple, scannable format.

Finally, most visitors like to know who they are doing business with and why they should choose your company. Provide some background to help separate you from your competition and gain credibility. Give them reasons to choose you over someone else.
